Size: Their body length could grow to 140cm in length and 60cm in height .Their weight also about 35kg to 64kg.

Origin: Central and Northern South America

Conservation Status: Least Concern (IUCN 2016)

 

Physical Description

  • Closely related to guinea pigs and rock cavies so they are look alike but bigger in size, pig shaped bodies and partially webbed foot for paddling around in the water.

  • Reddish dark brown fur, small eyes, and hairless ears.

 

Habitat

Tropical moist forest, Tropical Savanna and flooded grassland.
