Common Name: Koi Fish

Scientific Name: Cyprinus carpio

Type: Fish

Diet: Omnivore

Size: Most domestic Koi are usually around 30cm to 38cm in length. Japanese koi are usually 55cm to 66cm long while Koi with Jumbo size grow up to 86cm to 91cm in length.

Average Lifespan: 25 – 35 years

Origin: East Asia

Conservation Status: Not endangered

Physical Description

  • Generally, their bodies grow fairly large, many have long flowing fins, and most of them have colorful bodies.

  • They have varieties colours available which is in black, white, yellow, orange, red, blue, and any combinations.

  • Most Koi measure around 30cm to 60cm long, even though they differ in size. Some remarkable variations exceed 91cm or 122cm in length.


Habitat

Common find it in many aquariums or freshwater such as lakes and ponds.
