Common Name: Malayan Giant River Turtle

Scientific Name: Orlitia borneensis

Size: In adult size can length up to 80 cm and weight up to 50kg

Average Lifespan: 30-100 years

Origin: Western Peninsula Malaysia, Eastern Sumatra and Western Kalimantan

Conservation Status: Critically Endangered (IUCN, 2020)

 

Physical Description

  • Malayan River Giant Turtle has a powerful head and strong jaw, with a slightly projecting snout.

  • The colour of their head of the adult is either brown or black.

  • They have dark mottled with a pale line from the mouth to the back of the head.

 

Habitat

Freshwater lakes, swamps and river
