Physical Description
Red-footed tortoises have yellowish-orange to red patches on their face, foot and tail.
They have dark gray to black highly domed carapace with a yellow center on each scute.
Habitat
They prefer heavily forested and humid environment, such as forests and grassland.

The way they communicate with each other are special! They can communicate and identify each other by the head movement.
Even they like forested habitat, however, they will avoid muddy areas unlike many other tortoises, because they have low burrowing capability.
They mostly spend their time digging, foraging and generally spend over 50% of the daytime to rest. They may even rest longer if they just had a large meal with 5 - 10 days stretches are commonly seen.
These tortoises are the prey for the jaguars, they hunt them mostly as food.
