Physical Description
Tilapia is similar to sunfish or crappie, but can be easily distinguished by an interrupted lateral line that is typical of the fish genus Cichlid.
With long dorsal fins, they are laterally compressed and deep-bodied. The dorsal fin's forward section is strongly spined.
Under the anus, the male tilapia has a tapered shape, while the female has a more rounded shape with a triangular indentation in the center.

Freshwater such as rivers, streams, canals, lakes, and ponds.
